Egypt goalkeeper Essam Al Hadari packs his bags and left for Switzerland, saying he was going to join Swiss club FC Sion, two days after being booed by Egyptian fans during a friendly against Argentina.

UEFA admit their decision not to award the 2010 Champions League final to Wembley was down to UK tax policy. The Government, as part of a crackdown on foreign earners, are now taxing overseas sportsmen or women on money earned in the UK at domestic rates.

Van Gaal to leave AZ

Rapid Bucharest punished for crowd violence

Rapid Bucharest are punished with a 3-0 defeat by the Romanian Football Federation after their match against Steaua Bucharest was abandoned when the home side’s fans threw stones and objects on to the pitch. Referee Alexandru Deaconu abandons the derby game in the 73rd minute with Rapid leading 1-0.
