Santos take Mexican title

Santos Laguna win the Mexican championship, drawing 1-1 with Cruz Azul to clinch the title a year after barely escaping relegation. Santos, from the northern desert city of Torreon, win the two-leg final 3-2 on aggregate to clinch their third championship and extend Cruz Azul’s title drought.

England cruise to a 3-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago in an international friendly at Port of Spain. Jermain Defoe scored a goal in each half after Gareth Barry’s 12th-minute opener in a match that an experimental England side controlled but never really tried to dominate.
